Family is strong yet flexible. Family is supportive yet straining. Family is timeless yet ephemeral. Family is an ongoing photo series presenting my nontraditional definition of family.

As I transitioned away from student life to adulthood, I found myself often reflecting on what family was. Why do my parents have a strict blood-related definition? Do I take for granted my own immediate family? Can I build my own family with extended family and friends? What does that look like?

The answers to these questions are multifaceted. Likewise, my family includes multiple people. Its definition will continue to evolve for me. Similarly, this project will continue to change as I mature and grow my family.
